Getting Nominated for the Goldwater Scholarship

Learn more about this  nationally competitive award to recognize the next generation of outstanding STEM researchers In order to be considered for SBU's nomination, applicants must have a strong record of participation in undergraduate research and meet the following criteria:

  • Apply by the December 1, 2017  Goldwater  Scholarship Campus Nomination Deadline
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a full-time matriculated Sophomore or Junior (Junior status preferred)
  • Intend to pursue a research career in the natural sciences, math, or engineering (students pursuing clinical careers such as MD or MD/PhD are typically not eligible)
If you meet these criteria and want to apply for SBU's nomination, plan to attend this  information  session:

External Scholarships and Fellowships 101

An undergraduate's introduction to nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships. Learn more about these merit-based awards to study abroad, pursue graduate studies, as well as conduct research or teach English overseas following graduation. Freshmen and sophomores are especially encouraged to attend.
