Stony Brook’s graduate students and postdocs are my number one priority, and we in the Graduate School are committed to providing the resources you need to succeed. As you investigate new ideas, discover solutions, and develop advanced skills, the Graduate School will be there for you. We provide a full range of services and funding opportunities , including: Graduate Council Fellowships and Turner Fellowships; advising on external scholarships and fellowships ; an array of professional development offerings ; and the Graduate Student Advocate. We’re also home to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Center for Inclusive Education. Each year, we recognize the outstanding achievements of our graduate students in teaching and research with awards like the President's Awards for Distinguished Doctoral Students and the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching by a Graduate Student, as well as recognizing our students’ extraordinary success in national competitions like the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program and the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. We provide mentoring programs, training in communicating science through the groundbreaking Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, myriad social activities, and travel funding through the Graduate Student Organization.
